Northern Shovelers (or Shovellers) are fairly common dabbling ducks with a very characteristic long, broad, spoon-shaped bill. They are found on lakes and marshes of northern Europe, including Britain.
This Shoveler drake is sculpted from lime tinted with chinese ink stick and finished with wax. It is 12.5 cm (approx. 5") in length and is signed by the artist.
