Gannets are very large seabirds (related to boobies), breeding in colonies on isolated steep rocky coasts and ranging far out to sea in search of fish. They dive for fish in a characteristic and spectacular plunge from some height.
This Gannet is captured sitting at its nest site and is sculpted from lime, tinted with chinese ink stick and finished with wax. It is 13 cm (approx. 5") in length and is signed by the artist.
