Red-breasted Mergansers are gregarious birds found along northern European coasts and inland water ways from Russia through to northern Britain. They are sawbills and dive for fish.
The Red-breasted Merganser drake (in foreground) is depicted swimming and is sculpted from lime tinted with chinese ink stick and finished with wax. It is 14 cm (approx. 5.5") in length and is signed by the artist. A female Merganser (behind male in the photo) is also available.
