Goosanders are large, long-bodied ducks that are gregarious like mergansers and often found in large flocks. They are found along northern European coasts and in lakes and rivers from Russia through to northern Britain. They are sawbills and dive for fish.
The Goosander drake (in foreground) is depicted swimming and is sculpted from lime tinted with chinese ink stick and finished with wax. It is 13 cm (approx. 5") in length and is signed by the artist. A female Goosander (behind male) is also available.
